(COVID-19) WORLD REPORT

POLICY PRIORITIES AND SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS IN POST- CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) WORLD
The outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused increased vulnerability and unprecedented shocks in both rich and emerging countries around the world. Strategies designed to curtail the rapid spread of the virus, such as lockdown of communities, and stay-at-home orders, have disrupted supply chains, thereby resulting in a global economic recession.
The impacts and risks associated with the virus in wealthy and low-income countries are starkly different. While the advanced economies have the fiscal capacity to respond immediately with expansionary policies to cushion the harmful effects of the pandemic, low-income countries lack essential healthcare infrastructure and the economic resources to reduce the impacts of the pandemic on the livelihood of their citizens.

Suliver's Information Technology Open Source Model

Suliver wants to leverage modern information and communication technology (ICT) in sustainability and livelihood research. To this effect, the network works to support inter-disciplinary researchers in Global South and North who are willing to open source their research work. Suliver scholars employ open data in their studies, and are willing to be part of open access publishing in sustainability and livelihood research.

Our goal is to use open science and open source to promote scientific research in areas such as climate change and adaptation, food security, sustainable urbanization and many more. This strategy will give voice to young scientists, especially in the Global South, and enable them to collaborate and share their research findings in their local communities with policy makers and other researchers around the world.

Our Vision

Suliver’s vision is a world where communities are aware of the need for sustainable development, and the practical steps to a sustainable future.
